D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc., one of the fastest-growing U.S. beer makers, is close to acquiring a former Coors plant in Memphis, Tenn., to help the company meet rising demand and increase distribution beyond the eastern United States.

Happy Independence Day, America. The 4th of July is the star of the month, and what better way to celebrate the first weekend of what should be called American Beer month than buying a selection of American Craft beer.

The $100 billion U.S. brewing industry is staggering into the summer, drunk on the profits of yesteryear’s strong economy. Sales of 11 of the biggest brands fell recently… big beer titans Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite all declined. Maybe Drinkability®™ didn’t have so much Profitability®™ after all.

This 4th of July, declare independence from big, foreign owned breweries and Drink American. Put down that Belgian owned Budweiser, that South African owned Miller or that Canadian owned Coors and pick up an American independent.

Philadelphia is widely considered the United States’ most patriotic city (sorry Boston). Everywhere you go are the remnants of history and heroism.
