“Big Beer” is getting even bigger. Anheuser-Busch InBev is expanding–yet again. SABMiller accepted a takeover bid valued at over $100 billion from Anheuser-Busch InBev in a deal that would form a company that would control nearly a third of the global beer market. This is bad for you. Here’s why.

After nearly 20 years of producing America’s two best-selling beers, Anheuser-Busch InBev will have to cede second place as Budweiser is pushed aside by Coors Light.

It’s the most wonderful time of the beer. Just the other day, I commented that MillerCoors’ Blue Moon “doesn’t suck, but I don’t really care for it.” So I was surprised to find myself buying a six-pack of their seasonal beer called Full Moon.

For whatever reason, Blue Moon wheat beer–brewed by MillerCoors–is one of the hottest-selling “craft” brews by a major bottler, but Anheuser-Busch is angling to cut in on that growth with its new Bud Light Golden Wheat. Only two months after its debut, the new wheat beer has nearly matched Blue Moon’s monthly sales.

MillerCoors has recalled a batch of Coors Light in the Southeastern United States after taste tests at the company’s Georgia brewery found the beer to be subpar… which makes me wonder why it wasn’t recalled YEARS ago.

MillerCoors is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the recyclable aluminum can. After many prototypes and several years in development, the first aluminum cans rolled off the line at the Coors Golden brewery on Jan. 22, 1959.
