Mama mia, that’s a spicy meatball. A few simple additions to your ground beef will make this burger as sweet as a sausage.
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound sweet Italian sausage
- 1/4 cup Italian flavored bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 slices mozzarella
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 can artichoke hearts
Break apart the sausage with your fingers tough guy or chop it up with a knife (be sure to wipe the prints) and place it in a bowl. Mix the ground beef and sausage together with the bread crumbs, egg and garlic. Form them into 4 huge patties and slam ’em down on a hot, clean grill.
Top them off with the mozzarella cheese right before you remove them from the grill. Place on a bun with the pepper slices and artichoke hearts. You couldn’t get them better at the San Genaro festival.
