Since May was National Hamburger Month (we’d really like to know who’s in charge of selecting these things–and get a seat on the committee) we’re sure you’ve had your recommended daily allowance of ground beef throughout the previous month.

But the festivities do not stop with the closing of May. The Georgia Beef Board has declared June "Beef Month." Their celebration, along with many other meat boards, will focus on the 100th anniversary of the hamburger.
Although there are differences in opinion over who invented the hamburger where (stories range from New York to Ohio to California) it is generally accepted that it made its debut at the 1904 St. Louis World?s Fair where Texas native Fletcher Davis sold a grilled patty of ground beef between two slices of thick bread. Buns, onions, ketchup and most importantly cheese were added in the years to come.
In honor of the centennial celebration, I’ve decided to eat a hamburger every day from now until 2005. I can do it too… I was born with a biggie ventricle. Supersize me!
