Blogger and Serious Eater Adam Kuban posts about a stunning turn of events that may shake the very foundations of burgerological anthropology.

His blog, A Hamburger Today, has tackles the way-important subject of what was the first burger to use a Krispy Kreme doughnut as a bun.

The contenders? The Gateway Grizzlie Burger, the Krispy Kreme-bunned bacon cheeseburger served at the stadium of independent league baseball team the Gateway Grizzlies or The Luther Burger, an invention of a Georgia pub. Know as the Fat Kreme, this early version of fusion-burger excess places the contents of a Fatburger burger onto the doughnut.

Then there are unconfirmed reports of an even earlier version of the KK-burger mashup, but using In-N-Out burgers instead.

This actually sounds even tastier than my OWN invention, the Belgium Burger… a bacon burger placed on a belgium waffle and covered in syrup, usually enjoyed at 3am in a diner (patent pending).
