Milk is usually the top seller at H-E-B stores in Houston, but on Thanksgiving Day, a different beverage won the No. 1 slot: Budweiser.<br />

Why? More men pushing shopping carts that day. 65 percent of the shoppers were men whereas typically 80 percent of the grocer’s shoppers are female.<br />

That may explain why 10 of H-E-B’s 25 top-selling grocery items that day were brands of beer. The holiday sales also confirm that turkey frying is big in Houston. Among all grocery items sold that day, the No. 3 best seller was a 128-ounce jar of Lou Anna peanut oil, and No. 8 on the list was a 3-gallon jar of the same brand of peanut oil.<br />
