Bass Ale is finally joining it’s European brethren in bringing its draught beer into the American home with the launch of the Bass "Pub Pour"(TM) can.

The Bass Pub Pour can will use what the company is calling "nitrogen flush technology" to deliver a longer lasting, more robust head that replicates the pub experience.

According to the press release, a small jet of nitrogen is placed into the can immediately before filling, creating a tighter, richer head than consumers are used to receiving from a can, and more reminiscent of the perfect pub pint.

Nowhere is the mention of the word "widget" which implies–at least to me–that the methology is different than what we are used to seeing in Guinness and other draught cans. The advantage of a widget-less can? Seems to me that it’s volume… the Bass cans hold 16.9 ounces compared to most other nitro-cans that hold 14.9 ounces.

Finally… I can get a longer lasting, more robust head in the home.
