Hi folks,

My first post here-and I just had to ask, anyone remember this brew? It remains my favorite of all time. Needless to say, ya gotta be old to have tasted it then! It had a delicious taste, very malty/sweet to the best effect, and an amazing mouthfeel, and overall unique flavor of Lowenbrau.

I thought Miller was making it back then, in the early to mid 70’s, but I think I’ve read that they were just importing it at the time, and didn’t start making it until later (if at all-maybe just the light and dark versions of Lowenbrau). The current Lowenbrau Oktoberfest is a completely different beer, and not anywhere close to being a great brew, in my opinion.

I’ve also been searching in vain ever since to find the equal to it, and this year I think I’ve found a close 2nd in Paulaner Okt/Marzen. I’ve had it other years, but this one seems to have made more of an impression on me, and bringing with it a little nostalgia from my first great Oktoberfest.

I’ve tried most that are available in my area (Southeast PA), but every year it seems to be a big search again to find one I really like.
Anyone else have some thougts on this? Thanks.
