According to a press release, Pabst Brewing will introduce a new beverage called Colt Ice Beer this month in Detroit, Indianapolis and Cleveland — playing off the notoriety of their long-standing Colt 45 Premium Malt Liquor which they call the "Class of the Malt Liquor Brands."

Colt Ice Beer will have 5.9 percent alcohol by volume and will be sold in 16 oz., 22 oz. and 40 oz. containers.

Alan Willner, vice president of marketing at Pabst, says Colt Ice Beer was developed to compete in the premium beer market. "Colt 45 Malt Liquor is a brand with a strong heritage, tradition and consumer following," Willner says.

We didn’t realize that malt liquor was considered a premium beer, but if it’s in a press release then it must be true.
