Aluminum beer keg as a smoker?

    I have an aluminum keg all cut up almost ready to smoke. I just need to drill a few more holes and find a heat source. One of my friends here at school mentioned that its not safe to heat aluminum. He said he thought it put out some sort of toxin and that it might not be a good thing to cook with. Anyone know if theres any truth to this, I would like to get it smoking soon.
