Michael Jackson, whose writing about beer literally changed what is in the glasses of beer drinkers around the world, has died. He was 65. Jackson, universally known as The Beer Hunter, recently revealed that he suffered from Parkinson’s disease and was battling other health problems. He hardly let that slow him, speaking at beer and whisky events around the world and most recently addressing British beer writers in a gathering at the Great British Beer Festival.<br />

Memorials to Jackson began to pour in via beer blogs, on discussion boards and in private e-mail lists within hours after the news of his death broke, the pace quickening as traditional news outlets posted reports. Expect the tributes to continue, both in print and on the Internet, for some time as the beer community reacts to perhaps its greatest loss ever.<br />
