Ok, so I couldn’t find a replacement probe, and went in search of a better built Digital Remote Meat thermometer.<br />

Found the Weber at a big box home improvement store for $30. I was settled on purchasing that one, when an internet search revealed the same device (without the Weber name on the box) at Circuit City of all places for $17.95. Of course I purchased the less expensive one.<br />

The real excitement was when I got home, and tried the probe from the new thermometer in the old thermometer and it worked! So now I had two working transmitters and two working receivers, and one working probe. On a whim, I tried the old crazed probe in the new thermometer transmitter, and got a good reading! Go figure. I put the old probe back in the old thermometer transmitter and got another good reading (at least it wasn’t 451 degrees Farenheit in my living room). So, blast it, I’ve spent another $20 and apparently have two complete working digital remote meat thermometers. Those thyristors in the probes must be able to reset themselves somehow, or worst case, I have a back up.
