We usually dislike so many things that Brookstone sells for your grill, so it was nice to see something that looked like it might be helpful for certain types of grilling. The Turbo Que is a fan that turns your gas grill into a convection oven.
Food warms faster in a convection oven because the moving air strips away the thin layer of air which otherwise would surround and insulate the food. By moving fast hot air past the food, convection ovens can operate at a lower temperature than a standard conventional oven and yet cook food more quickly. The air circulation, or convection, tends to eliminate “hot spots” and thus food may cook more evenly.
With that science in mind, the Turbo Que fan attaches to the side of a gas grill. We don’t own one, but it looks like you can hang it on a rotisserie hook, like the one many grills already have. The Que is powered by 2 C batteries and is at Brookstone and Amazon for $24 – $30 bucks.
