Samuel Adams Brews Chocolate For the Holidays

by David Lauterbach

This holiday season, the Boston Beer Company is going dark.  They will release Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock, defined as “a rich, delicious, full flavored chocolate beer that is sure to enhance the holiday season for beer and chocolate lovers alike.”

The latest batch will be released as a limited edition from Thanksgiving to New Year’s and is a handcrafted specialty brew featuring Cru Sauvage chocolate* from fine Swiss chocolatier, Felchlin.

Chocolate-infused beers are an acquired taste… I happen to enjoy chocolate stouts, such as the Sammy A Cream stout that is typically available this time of year.  ‘Cept that costs $10 a six-pack and this costs $14.99 for a 750ml bottle.  But it’ll make a nice gift when you’re headed to a beer drinker’s house (instead of a bottle of wine).

For the full story, read the press release at MarketWatch.com.

* As defined in press-release-speak: “a highly-regarded and rare dark chocolate made from the uncultivated wild Bolivian cacao beans sourced from the dense rainforests located in the small town of Baures, Bolivia.”

I’m a big fan of chocolate hints in beers also… just can’t have too many of them in a row.
