Well, it just so turns out that me and a group of friends got together recently to do a beer blind taste test. We do blind tasting’s all the time just for fun, and to see what brands are better then others. So this time we wanted to compare all of the main “domestic”(in their own countries) big mainstream beers. We tasted beers from 3 countries; the US, Mexico, and Japan. Here were the beers:

Budweiser
Miller
Coors

Tecate
Modelo
Pacifico

Kirin Ichiban
Asahi
Sapporo

Both the Japanese and Mexican beers all won hands down against the American beers. All of the beers were light, but both the Japanese and Mexican beers had a lot of flavor, while the American beers almost had zero flavor at all. The American beers had too much of a sweet finish, which can be good sometimes, but Budweiser and Coors were way to sweet. So for me and my fellow tasters we all agreed that American beers fall short on flavor, but the lighter “imported” beers from Mexico and Japan are pretty dam good for light beers(I prefer medium to dark ales myself).

Well I must say that if your being defensive of someones oppinion of a beer by saying that other people have different ones you sound like an idiot as your telling him not to do what your telling him to do… I myself am from Portland Oregon “bee Capitol o the USA”. And love all sorts of beer and must say that the reviewer here is right on in my opinion… He’s not bashing the beer at all as he buys it for god sake! Only is he making a “good” observation as to the beers overall quality. And saying that it’s not fair to judge a beer against different types of beer is also asinine as people like different beers for different reasons and buy them accordingly as replyer one said him self in his week and logicless responce. I myselfe do buy this beer and enjoy it along with other cheap “flavor wise”. Beers but must say that they are at the bottom of the barrel! But to say that people buy what they like is noncence as the majoraty of people also buy cheap ass furniture and tools and all sorts of things that they don’t love and that they probably would not purchase if they had the means to do oherwise or perhaps just the knoladge that there really is something better out there… Also there is the pallat to consider, as with wine, coffee and cheese. An inexperianced palet will not be able to distinguish flavor nuances and many other things that woul make you just happy with the run of the mill foldgers, Carlo rossi, American singles and budwiser……

you sound like one of those “beer snobs” who thinks everything has to be craft brewed and obscure in order to be good, in other words, a guy who just can’t appreciate a regular-ass can of beer.

I have to say you sound like so many American Micro Brew fans. If it doesn’t have a bitterness level of 1 million you feel it’s not a real beer. Beer snub? un bias? Ya right. You knew what you were going to say before you even tasted Modelo Esp.

You know what you need to do next time you think you might try something thing other than a Sam Adams special bock. Think outside the box; try it with your eyes closed. And don’t compare the brand with a dark lager, micro brew or even scotch. It doesn’t make it fair to other brands that you place them on the same playing field.

To say people have no idea what they like (because they have not tried as many types as the all mighty Mark) is one of the most ignorant things you could ever say. They like what they like because they are not you. They like what like because their taste buds tells them it’s good and clean and refreshing for their taste. Get off your high horse and come back down for to the real world where people can still think for themselves.

My opinion of you has really gone down.

It’s a very large beer world out there, remember that. You’re not the only beer expert out there.
