I agree. Dos Equis is way better than Corona. Corona seems to be a trendy beer among Gringos who wish they were on spring break.

Rick, I assume cheese-smothered dishes like Choriqueso are Mexican-American rather than Mexican. As you probably know, actual Mexican food is not made up of the enchiladas and burritos that we get here in America.

Which region of Mexico is known for covering their food with cheese? I've never been there. Have you?

I worked as a chemist-microbiologist for large brewery in Azusa, California years back. Had very good friend and neighbor who sold beer for Pabst- or tried to sell against our " Lucky Lager" with its "X" Label. He could not make one bit of inroad in to the very large Mexican peoples market and trade in Southern California! I had to admit that Distributors of Lucky had taken good and cold Lucky by truckloads of cold beer- gratis! and had gone to the very backwoods, chaparral, puckerbrush, and boondocks ofCalifornia even for one case at a time customers- very dependable! Mexicans who could not,or did not, speak English wouldgo into a package store or tavern, bar and instead of speaking: "LuckyLager ,Please-por favor!"
They would just raise hands and cross fingers to make an "X" Equis! I have thought foryears that "Dos Equis" is or was tryingto get themto make two "X"s Huh?? Another beerofMexico ,or was a few years back,: "Tecate" just across the Frontera with EEUU a very , much to me, good story! InWWII an acquaintance of mine froma familyof brewmasters and brewers was drafted early inWWII and when"Officials" I have noidea who, and didn't think authorities re Draft had any sense at all!, but whenit was seenthat he was a brewer, he was assigned as US Army, I believe, to work in the"Tecate" Brewery! HUh? Already, he knew how to make beer! But it was so he could learn Spanish, and Officials thinking for way down the line and when Mac returned to the Philippines!: he'd be able to start making beer very, very pronto in San Miguel Brewery of Manila to get the Philippine economy and agriculure going and on feet as quickly as possible- and beer for theUSA troops fighting, and in between, battles in the Pacific ( maybe really good idea as the Temperance Union and Baptists would and did squelch lots of beer to the troops( 2 /12 oz cans a month!) in Korea in the 50's!!) I , when got to Manila, saw Newspaers were in Castillano, but wonder if laborers even spoke Spanish?? Tagalog maybe? I know some Peace Corps workers being assigned to the Philippines, just a few years back, had to study and learn languages different than English and Spanish! One last comment: I hate to se beers shooting for or having high alcohol content! Ethanol doesn't taste verygood at all tomostfolks! Needs water,or even beer, chaser, or "Cocktails!" Beer is a good beverage of fine or not so fine cereals!!! Better tasting, to me, with Alcohol about 3.85-4.00% by Weight,or 4,8-5.00% by Volumn!! and is taxed by A&FATAXES at those, when declared and reported as alcohol contents almost daily!! contents! and Breweries switched "King Size" from 16 ozs to 15 ozs to take advantage of tax rates per case of beer sold!!Don't expose beer to sunlight unless like skunk pee odors and flavors!!

Dos Equis is a fine beer indeed. However, it is nothing like Sam Adams and holds absolutely no similar characteristics at all to Newcastle. Newcastle is not a good beer and is quite heavy compared to Dos Equis amber. I do agree to order this over a Corona and go ahead and squeeze the lime...
